Earth
Earth is the element of the signs that build. It stands for the concrete, the tangible and the sustainable. In a chart, the weight of Earth measures how much of the personality is grounded in results rather than in intentions.
matter, patience, reliability
Overview
The element that lasts: what can be touched, measured and kept.
Earth is slow on purpose. It distrusts what cannot be verified, and it finishes what the other elements abandon.
Interpretation
Earth is the element of substance. The three earth signs share a refusal of the abstract — Taurus holds, Virgo refines, Capricorn constructs — and a patience that treats time as an ally rather than an obstacle. In a natal chart the amount of Earth says how much the person needs the concrete before committing.
Abundant Earth gives reliability, endurance and craft, and the risk of mistaking caution for wisdom and inertia for stability. Scarce Earth gives lightness and speed, and a persistent difficulty with the practical: the plan is brilliant and the follow-through is somebody else's problem.
